TOWSON, Md. - Catholic University women's basketball freshman Luca Mamula was named to the All-Landmark Conference Second Team on Wednesday. She is the first freshman to earn all-conference honors for the Cardinals since Brianna Peterson in 2008.
Mamula led the team in scoring (11.3 points), becoming the first freshman to lead Catholic in scoring since Peterson averaged 14.7 points during the 2007-08 season. Mamula also finished third in rebounds (4.8 per game) and steals (2.3 per game). She ranked 13th in the league in scoring and third among freshmen while placing sixth in steals, including second among freshmen.
Mamula was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week on January 28 after averaging 18.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.0 steals in two Landmark Conference victories over Goucher and Moravian.
The Cardinals (16-10, 8-6 Landmark) posted at least 16 wins for the ninth-straight season. Catholic earned the No. 3 seed in the 2019 Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Championship, returning to the postseason after missing it for the first time in eight years in 2018.
