WASHINGTON-- Kate Robinson (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin High School) shot 11 of 21 from the field and added a perfect two for two from the charity stripe to score a career high 24 points, as CUA dropped Wesley 76-64 Wednesday evening.

Kerri Confrey (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) added only two points, but her six assists and three steals both led the Cardinals offensive attack.  Brianna Peterson (Garnerville, N.Y./North Rockland) scored 18 points and grabed six boards, but it was the self-less offense shown by CUA tonight that helped secure the victory.

The Cardinals shot only 40.6% from the field for the game, but 20 offensive rebounds and 12 steals was the deciding factor.  The team made few mistakes, only garnishing 16 turnovers, while forcing their opponents to commit 28 giveaways.

CUA took an early lead, 5-2 less than five minutes into the game, before the visitors went on an 8-0 run over the next three minutes.  With the score 5-10, in favor of the visitors, head coach Matt Donohue called timeout and reset his team.  The team responded with a 7-0 run that put them back on top 12-10.

Throughout much of the rest of the first half CUA and Wesley exchanged the lead before the hosts settled for a four point advantage at the break.  CUA was out rebounded by Wesley 23-19  and shot only 35.9% from the field.

Early in the second half the Cardinals extended their lead to nine but saw that lead chipped away until Wesley tied the game at 55 with just over 10 minutes left.  The teams exchanged small leads until CUA broke the game open.  In the final eight minutes of play, the Cardinals allowed only two points for Wesley, while scoring 15.

CUA will return to action Saturday, Dec. 6th at Goucher as the Cardinals will open Landmark Conference play at 5:30 p.m.
