Cardinals honored for academics by WBCA

WASHINGTON – The CUA women's basketball team has been honored for its academic work by being named to the 2011 WBCA Academic Top-25 Honor Roll.  The Cardinals' team grade point average of 3.447 ranked 22nd best in America of all Division III women's basketball programs.  CUA is the only school from the Landmark Conference to be recognized.

CUA had quite a memorable season in 2010-11, winning its most games since the 2005-06 season (19), while earning its first-ever bid to the Landmark Conference Tournament.  The Cardinals also made it to the ECAC Championship game for the first time in school annals.

Jill Woerner was CUA's top individual performer as the rising junior earned First Team All-Landmark Conference and Third Team All-Middle Atlantic Region recognition.

Off the court, eight Cardinals were named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll and Katarina Owunna received All-Academic Team laurels.
