Cardinals Finish First in First-Ever Event in Team History

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - Highlighted by a second-place finish by freshman Mary Colella, the Catholic University women's golf team took home first place in the first-ever event in team history as the Cardinals totaled a 376 in a tri-match with Goucher and Gettysburg Friday at Hanover Country Club.

Catholic finished nine strokes ahead of Goucher and 11 in front of Gettysburg. The Cardinals' score was lower than any of the seven teams shot at last year's Landmark Conference Women's Golf Championship.

Colella finished second after carding an 88, just four strokes behind individual winner, Christina Pevey of Goucher who finished third at last year's conference championship.

Catholic placed four golfers in the top seven. Freshman JoJo Parker finished fifth with a 95 while freshman Jordan Farrell was sixth with a 96 and sophomore Tess Murphy was seventh with a 97.

Junior Kelly Wright carded a 108 to place 13th.

Head Coach Ed Dolan and the Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Landmark Conference Fall Invitational at Fox Hollow Golf Club in Branchburg, N.J.
