Wilmington, N.C. - No. 6 The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team remains undefeated in 2017 after a 19-10, spring break victory over Christopher Newport University on Wednesday afternoon.
The nationally ranked Cardinals took on the CNU Captains in Wilmington, N.C., and improved their overall record to 3-0.
Catholic senior Alexis Bosilovic scored the first goal of the game in the opening two minutes. The Cardinals notched eight additionally goals in the first half taking a 9-5 lead at the intermission.
Senior Anna Stumme and junior Nicolette Crisalli each put two between the pipes in the first half. Senior Erin Macchione scored Catholic's fourth goal and freshman Allyson Criscuolo, senior Emily Merkel and sophomore Jessica Lyons scored the final three goals of the half, respectively.
Crisalli opened the second half with a assisted by senior Clair Schmitzer. Bosilovic brought the Cards tally to 11, and Crisalli scored another to put the Catholic ahead 12-5.
Sophomore Katie Sherry scored next for Catholic followed by senior Ana Brandenburg. Senior Jenna Van Middelem scored Catholic's 15th and 16th goal and freshman Holly Regan brought the Cards to a 17-9 advantage
Schmitzer and Bosilovic capped off the Cardinal scoring with a goal apiece in the final three minutes.
No. 6 Catholic takes on No. 2 Cortland on Wednesday, March 15, at the USL Headquarters in Sparks, Md.
