WASHINGTON - No. 9 The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team opened Landmark Conference play with an 18-6 victory over Drew University on Saturday afternoon.
Ten Cardinals scored goals in the conference win while Catholic outshot Drew 26-18 and grabbed 27 ground balls throughout the 60-minutes.
Junior Alexis Bosilovic sent the ball between the pipes just 10 seconds after classmate Allie Bond won the opening draw. Fellow senior Ana Brandenburg notched a goal 33 seconds later before classmate Jenna Van Middelem scored back-to-back to give the Cards and early 4-0 lead.
Junior Nicolette Crisalli scored next for Catholic and proceed to tallied four goals in the first half. Senior Laura Dunn and sophomore Jessica Lyons, along with Brandenburg, each scored two goals in the first half while seniors Erin Macchione and Elizabeth McCooey both put the ball in the net once.
Catholic took a 15-0 lead at the halftime intermission.
Along with her game-opening goal, Bosilovic tallied three assists and caused two turnovers during the game.
The Cardinals head to Glassboro, N.J., on Wednesday, March 29, to take on the Rowan University Owls at 6 p.m.
