Cardinals Top Presidents in NCAA Second Round Clash

WASHINGTON - After being granted a first round bye, The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team captured a 20-1 NCAA Tournament Second Round victory over the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson College on Sunday afternoon.

First Team All-Chesapeake selection senior Laura Dunn led the way for the Cardinals with seven points on two goals and five assists. Second team selection junior Nicolette Crisalli scored five goals.

Senior Ana Brandenburg got things started for the Cards with a goal in the first 40 seconds of the game off a pass from All-Chesapeake second teamer senior Alexis Bosilovic.

Crisalli scored the next four, with assists from Dunn on her first three goals. Dunn followed with Catholic's sixth goal before Bosilovic scored her first of the day.

Crisalli, Bosilovic and Dunn each scored one more throughout the game. Sophomore Jessica Lyons as well as freshmen Holly Regan and Allyson Criscoulo each notched two. Seniors Jenna Van Middelem, Emily Merkel and Clair Schmitzer along with sophomore Katie Sherry scored one a piece.

The Cardinals will head to the Regional Quarterfinals on Saturday, May 20, versus Washington & Lee. Check back to for game time and locations.
