WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team was honored with two selections to Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Star Team. Seniors Laura Dunn and Clair Schmitzer will play in the annual All-Star Game for the South Team on Saturday, June 3.
The Senior All-Star Game will be held on Tierney Field at the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md., at 2 p.m. Admission for the game is free of charge and will also be web-streamed live on IWLCA-tv.com.
Dunn is Catholic's 16th All-America selection since 2000 and she is the first attack in program history to garner national top-team honors. The Fairfax, Va., native earned her second straight all-region selection in addition to making the Landmark Conference First team for the second-consecutive season. She led the Landmark and is 20th in the country in assists (44) and is third in the Landmark with 79 total points. Dunn started all 18 games for the Cardinals in 2017, collecting 25 groundballs with eight caused turnovers. She was selected as the 2017 Landmark Conference Tournament MVP.
Schmitzer is a three-time All-Region honoree and earned First Team All-Landmark accolades in 2016 and 2014 as well as Second Team in 2017. She and Dunn helped Catholic to four conference championships. Schmitzer finished her career with 77 goals, 68 assists, 145 points, 238 groundballs, 122 draw controls, and 99 caused turnovers. Additionally, she was selected as the Landmark Senior Scholar Athlete.
