WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team set the bar for the rest of the country in academic achievement during the 2017 season. The Cardinals garnered Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) / Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad status and led the nation with 11 members on the Academic Honor Roll.
The Cardinals were the only team in Division III to boast more than nine selections to the honor roll as all 11 Cards registered cumulative GPA's of 3.50 or greater as a junior, senior or graduate student.
Clair Schmitzer, the 2017 Landmark Senior Scholar Athlete, led an impressive group of four-year Cardinals that also included All-Americans Alexis Bosilovic and Laura Dunn. The trio was also joined by classmates Allie Bond, Julia Collins, Erin Macchione, Elizabeth McCooey, Rachel Meyer and Jenna Van Middelem. Juniors Nicolette Crisalli and Jenna Gobel round out the record-setting Catholic team.
The Catholic women's lacrosse squad earned its team accolade as it qualified with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2016-17 academic year.
