No. 19 Cardinals Surrender to No. 16 Red Dragons

Sparks, Md. - No. 19 The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team fell in 16-8 to No. 16 Cortland State at the US Lacrosse Headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.

Catholic won 15-of-25 draw controls as freshman Anna Maupin won six and her classmate Michelle Brencher won four.

Juniors Jessica Lyons and Megan Ellis each tallied three goals apiece while freshman Bridget Beck and senior Nicolette Crisalli each notched one.

Lyons added four draw controls and two groundballs to her stat line while her classmate Kayla Purdy scooped four ground balls and caused four turnovers.

Ellis completed 2-of-2 free position attempts while recording a goal off a pass from sophomore Julia Clementi. Lyons went 1-of-2 from the eight-meter mark and scored Catholic's opening goal of each half on unassisted shots.  

Catholic held a 4-3 lead at the halftime break. The Cardinals went up 6-3 after the intermission before Cortland came alive on a 13-2 run to close out the final 20 minutes of play.
