No. 15 Cardinals Soar Over Blue Jays to Complete Undefeated Landmark Slate

WASHINGTON - No. 15 The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team topped the Elizabethtown Blue Jays, 22-12 to finish the 2018 regular season undefeated in Landmark Conference play.

Junior Megan Ellis led the Cardinals with five goals while her classmate Jessica Lyons and sophomore Ally Criscuolo each recorded four during the victory. Lyons added two assits and three ground balls while Criscuolo tacked on one assist and five draw control victories.

Junior Erin Dugan won five draw controls of her own, caused two turnovers and grabbed two ground balls. Sophomore Nanci Hernandez made eight saves and recorded her 10th win of the year before junior Christina De Cesaris guarded the cage in the final minutes of the game.

The Cardinals capitalized on Elizabethtown fouls to make nine eight-meter conversions. Criscuolo, Lyons and sophomore Holly Regan each completed two free position attempts while freshman Kate Behlen, sophomore Nicole DiFabio and Ellis each tossed in one.

The Cardinals trailed 2-0 in the opening minutes before senior Nicolette Crisalli scored Catholic's first goal followed by Criscuolo and Behlen, which put the Cardinals ahead 3-2. Elizabethtown got one more in before sophomore Katie Bradbury started Catholic on a five-goal run to give the Cards an 8-3 lead with just under eight minutes remaining in the first half.

Criscuolo added one more before her classmate Nicole DiFabio scored Catholic's final goal of the opening half to give the Cards a 9-6 advantage at the intermission.

Freshman Anna Maupin got things started in the second half while Crisalli, Ellis and Lyons helped Catholic to a 15-8 lead with 15 minutes left on the game clock.

Ellis ripped in three more during the half along with two from Lyons and one more from Regan. Senior Sarah Washington closed the game with Catholic's final goal of the day off a pass from junior Molly Kelly.

The Cardinals have now won 31 straight regular season conference matchups. Catholic enters the Landmark Conference Tournament as the No. 1 seed set to host No. 4 Drew University on Wednesday, May 2.
