WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team won its fifth straight Landmark Conference Championship Title with an 18-10 victory over the University of Scranton on Saturday afternoon. This the Cardinal's 10th crown since the inaugural season of the Landmark Conference in 2007.

Catholic junior Erin Dugan was honored as the Landmark Conference Championship Tournament's Most Valuable Player after her dynamic showing on the Cardinal's defensive line. Dugan won six draw controls, scooped up five groundballs and caused three turnovers during the Saturday finals.

Sophomore Holly Regan recorded six points on two goals and four assists while senior Nicolette Crisalli registered four goals and one assist. Junior Jessica Lyons added four goals to the Cardinals final title-winning tally.

Junior Megan Ellis ripped in Catholic's opening goal of each half to bring her points total to two during the league championships game. Sophomores Ally Criscuolo and Julia Clementi each added a pair of goals.

Criscuolo scored the Cardinals go-ahead goal in the 13th minute of the first half, which put Catholic ahead 4-3, a lead they would not surrender through the remaining 47 minutes. Clementi tossed in the team's final score of the day with two seconds remaining on the game clock.

Freshman Anna Maupin sent Catholic's sixth goal into the cage with just over six minutes to play in the first half. Junior Katie Bradbury hit the Cardinal's 16th goal on an unassisted shot with 5:31 left in regulation.

Catholic sophomore Nanci Hernandez earned her 12th win of the year guarding the Catholic cage. Hernandez made 11 saves and recorded six groundball.

Nationally ranked, No. 15 Catholic now heads to the NCAA women's lacrosse championship tournament. The Cardinals' opponent and game location will be announced on Sunday, May 6, during the NCAA Tournament selection show at 10 p.m.
