Bishop Named Landmark Defensive Player of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - Catholic University women's lacrosse junior Alyssa Bishop was named Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, marking her first career and the fifth for the Cardinals this season.

Bishop is third different Cardinal to earn Defensive Player of the Week this season, joining junior Nanci Hernandez (March 25) and freshman Rachel Searle (March 18).

Bishop headlined Catholic's defensive effort in two Landmark Conference victories last week. After helping to hold Goucher to just three goals and scoreless over the final 46:33, she totaled four ground balls and four caused turnovers in a 16-13 win at No. 20 Scranton on Saturday in a match-up of league unbeatens.

On the season, Bishop is second on the team with 13 caused turnovers and fourth with 21 ground balls.

Catholic faces its seventh ranked opponent this season on Tuesday when the Cards travel to No. 3 Mary Washington. Opening draw is at 4 p.m.
