TOWSON, Md. - Catholic University women's lacrosse senior Erin Dugan was named the 2019 Landmark Conference Women's Lacrosse Senior Scholar Athlete on Wednesday. Her selection is the fourth in the last six years for the Cardinals.
Dugan is the 37th Catholic student-athlete to be honored as a Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete and the fourth women's lacrosse player, joining Yasmeen Ajdari (2014), Tori Neill (2015) and Clair Schmitzer (2017).
The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators and sports information directors.
Dugan graduated on Saturday with a bachelor's degree in accounting and a 3.64 grade-point average. She was a four-time All-Landmark Conference selection, including a three-time first team honoree. On Monday, she was chosen to her third-straight Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Chesapeake Region Team after helping lead the Cardinals to their sixth consecutive Landmark Conference championship and their fifth-straight NCAA regional semifinal appearance.
Dugan was one of six players to start all 22 games this season and finished third on the team with 38 ground balls and 68 draw controls. She also totaled 12 caused turnovers. An IWLCA Second Team All-American last year, she finished her career with 148 ground balls, 237 draw controls and 77 caused turnovers in 84 games while making 82 starts.
Off the field, Dugan was named to the Dean's List every semester and was a three-time Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll selection. She participated in Catholic's annual MLK Day of Service, Mother Theresa Day of Service and Brookland Field Day.
Dugan, who begins work as a federal audit intern at KMPG and will begin her work on her master's in accountancy at Ohio State in the fall, was the winner of 2019 Donley Cup which is awarded by the Catholic athletics department to a senior for excellence as a leader, athlete and scholar who has made a significant contribution to the campus and community.
