Ambrosetti Voted All-South Atlantic Region
Sophomore midfielder Kristi Ambrosetti (Edgewater, Md./St. Mary's High) was named second-team South Atlantic Region All-American in women's lacrosse for the 2000 season.

Ambrosetti, a second-team All-CAC selection, led Catholic in scoring with 65 points on a team-high 53 goals and 12 assists. She paced the club in groundballs (69) and draw controls (80) and was second in shot percentage (56.4%). She scored the game-winning goal with four seconds left to lead the Cardinals to an 11-10 victory against Goucher in the first round of the CAC Tournament on April 17.

Ambrosetti was named CAC Player of the Week for the week ending April 2 after scoring 12 goals on 14 shots and adding three assists in two games. Her performance included career highs in goals (7) and points (8) in a 16-12 victory at Division I Howard on April 1. She also posted two seven-point performances in 2000: vs. Shenandoah on March 29 and Virginia Wesleyan on April 12.

Manning CAC Coach of the Year;
Three Make Second Team
WASHINGTON - Kristine Manning (Bethesda, Md.) has been named Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in women's lacrosse in voting by her peers, while Kristi Ambrosetti, Hanna Bissell (Springhouse, Pa./Mt. Saint Joseph's Academy) and Colleen Boland (Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) were named second-team All-CAC.

Manning, in her second year at Catholic University, led the 10-6 Cardinals to their finest season in 2000. The team won its first tournament championship (LAXstravaganza in Frederick, Md., on April 8-9, captured its first CAC road victory (10-7 at St. Mary's (Md.) on March 21) and posted its first win in the CAC Tournament (11-10 over Goucher on April 17).

Bissell, a sophomore attacker, is a repeat second-team selection. She was CUA's second-leading scorer in 2000 with 62 points on 40 goals and a team-high 22 assists. She was third on the team in groundballs (50) and scored on 37.4% on her team-high 107 shots. She tallied a personal-best 10 points (six goals, four assists) in a 21-1 demolition of Shenandoah on April 8.

Boland, a freshman who started 15 of the Cardinals' 16 games, led all CUA defenders in groundballs (49), caused turnovers (23) and draw controls (15). She ranked fourth on the team in groundballs, third in caused turnovers and fourth in draw controls. Her career-high of seven groundballs came in the Cardinals' 13-4 victory against Ohio Wesleyan for the championship of LAXstravaganza in Frederick, Md., on April 9.

Manning, who played lacrosse for four seasons (1989-92) at St. Mary's High in Annapolis, Md., was named All-Anne Arundel County as a senior defender and helped lead the Saints to the 1992 Catholic League championship. At Villanova University, she was a three-year starter on defense and graduated with a degree in sociology in 1996.

Manning is the sixth Cardinal coach to garner conference Coach of the Year honors in 1999-2000. She joins football coach Tom Clark (Old Dominion Athletic Conference), Nagy Abdelrazek (volleyball), Mike Lonergan (men's basketball), Tom Calomeris (men's swimming) and Marty Dowd (men's tennis).
