Three Cardinals selected for North-South Senior All-Star Game

WASHINGTON – Three members of the 2011 Landmark Conference champions have been selected to participate in the upcoming IWLCA/Under Armour North-South Senior All-Star Game.  Becky Borrell, Katie Buonpastore and Kate Robinson will represent CUA at the game, which takes place on Saturday, June 11th.  The three selections are the most in school history.

A three-time All-Landmark Conference selection, including two on the first team, Borrell is one of the top defenders in the entire nation.  She finished the 2011 season with 31 ground balls, 23 caused turnovers and 17 draw controls as well as two assists.  She caused four turnovers in three games, including the Cardinals second round NCAA Tournament contest vs. TCNJ. 

Borrell finished her career with 82 games played, including 66 starts, 143 ground balls, 93 caused turnovers, 14 goals and 7 assists.

Buonpastore is a four-time All-Landmark Conference selection, including three times on the first team.  She was named conference Player of the Week on two occasions this season and wound up with 32 goals, a team-high 38 assists, 24 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. 

Buonpastore scored a 2011 season-best six goals in an overtime win vs. Rowan and for her career she appeared in 82 games with 66 starts and scored 93 goals, handed out 130 assists and totaled 104 ground balls and 16 draw controls.

Robinson will go down as the best lacrosse player CUA has ever seen after she earned her fourth straight selection to the All-Landmark Conference teams this season.  A two-time All-American and three-time All-Region selection Robinson scored 46 goals and handed out 35 assists in 2011, to go along with 49 draw controls, 27 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers. 

She finished her career with an incredible 268 goals, 383 points, 252 draw controls and 114 caused turnovers, all of which are school records.

This year's game will be held at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa. on June 11.  Three games will take place that day beginning at noon with the Division I contest.  The Division II game will follow at 1 p.m. and CUA's representatives will take part in the Division III game at 2.
