ECAC honors Swarthout and Robinson for recent play

WASHINGTON – One day after earning a pair of awards from the Landmark Conference, Mary Swarthout and Kate Robinson were named the ECAC DIII Metro/South Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.  With that pair leading the way No. 11 CUA earned a pair of wins last week.

Swarthout had a terrific week for CUA with 11 goals, including the game-winner vs. No. 17 Mary Washington, six assists, 10 ground balls, eight draw controls and three caused turnovers.  In the Cardinals victory over Mary Washington on March 28 she scored five goals, including the game-winner and handed out a pair of assists.  She also picked up five GBs, won two draw controls and caused two turnovers.

Three days later Swarthout was back at it, this time netting six goals to go along with three assists, two ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover in the Cardinals back-and-forth game vs. No. 12 Middlebury.  The junior from Rockville, Md. then closed her week out with an assist, three ground balls and five draw controls in CUA's 10-9 conference win at Drew on Saturday, April 2.

While Swarthout handled the offensive end of things for the Cardinals, Robinson took care of the defense.  The senior scooped up five ground balls, won eight draw controls and caused seven turnovers in CUA's three contests, while also scoring eight goals and handing out four assists.

Robinson's week began with five draw controls, four caused turnovers, a goal and an assist in the win over Mary Washington.  Against Middlebury Robinson scored three times, handed out two assists and also won two draw controls.

Robinson finished her week off with four goals and three caused turnovers against Drew.  She sealed the victory for CUA with a huge caused turnover with only 15 seconds remaining.  Swarthout then scooped up the ensuing ground ball and moments later the Cardinals were victorious.

The No. 11 Cardinals will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Pennsylvania to take on Haverford.  Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
