WASHINGTON – The 2012 All-Landmark Conference Teams were announced on Tuesday and CUA had five student-athletes honored. Mary McGann, Tricia Colucci and Lexi Halperin were named to the First Team, while Lauren Cadott and Jackie Jones received Second Team honors. It marks the first All-Conference selection for each of the Cardinals.
McGann led CUA with six assists this season, to go along with a pair of goals and 10 points. The senior netted the game-winning score in CUA's 4-3 win over Juniata on October 12, and she dished out two assists in back-to-back matches that same month.
McGann wraps up her career in the red and black having appeared in 71 matches, with four goals and 16 assists.
One of CUA's top defenders, Colucci started 17 games for the Cards this year, and helped them post six shutouts. CUA's defense ranked third in the conference in goals allowed and goals against average, holding 12 teams to one or fewer goals.
In two seasons at CUA, Colucci has played in 35 matches, with 24 starts.
Playing behind Colucci and the CUA defense was Halperin, who started all 18 matches and finished with a conference-leading 91 saves in 1,667 minutes of action. Halperin posted three games with double-digit saves, including a high of 11 vs. Susquehanna.
The first-year keeper ranked third in the conference in shutouts, fourth in save percentage, and fifth in goals against average.
Playing in the midfield, Cadott tied for the team lead in goals with four. The New Jersey native netted the game-winner against Christopher Newport and also delivered a big goal in a conference win over Goucher.
Cadott started 15 of 18 matches this year and finishes her career with 11 goals and two assists in 59 matches.
Rounding out CUA's selections is Jones, who appeared in 13 matches with 11 starts on defense for the Cardinals. In addition to the six shutouts the Cardinals recorded this season, they also held eight opponents to 10 or fewer shots, with a low of one against Trinity.
Jones wraps up her career with 59 appearances and 37 starts.
