Landmark Conference announces women's soccer preseason poll

WASHINGTON – The Landmark Conference released its 2012 preseason women's soccer poll on Thursday and the Cardinals were selected second.  CUA collected 48 points overall and two first place votes in the poll, after appearing in its third conference championship match in the last four seasons in 2011.

CUA won 12 matches last season, including a program record five within the Landmark Conference.  The Cardinals defeated Susquehanna in the conference tournament semifinals to advance to their third title match in the last four years.

Head Coach JP Sousa brings back an experienced group, led by All-Conference performer Courtney Orgill, who led the Cards with 10 goals and 21 points a season ago.

Defending conference champion Scranton topped the poll with five first place votes and 55 points overall, followed by CUA and Drew and Susquehanna, who tied for third with 33 points apiece.   Rounding things out are Moravian (21), Goucher (16) and Juniata (15).
