WASHINGTON - Sophomore Elizabeth Johnson has been selected as the Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week after a stellar performance with The Catholic University of America women's soccer team this past weekend.
During the Cardinal's opening games, Johnson racked up six total points on three goals. The sophomore scored two goals, including the gamewinner, in Catholic's matchup against Virginia Wesleyan Friday evening. On Saturday, Johnson tallied her third goal of the season in the 34th minute against Christopher Newport University.
"Liz had a wonderful start to her 2017 season this past weekend," said head coach J.P. Sousa. "She established herself very quickly as a scoring threat for us on Friday night, and that carried over to three goals in two games against tough opponents. I'm very happy for her."
Catholic returns to the nation's capital to host the D.C. Classic on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10. The Cardinals will face the Quakers of Guildford College on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., and the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets on Sunday.
