Boyds, Md. - The Catholic University of America women's soccer team dropped its Landmark opener, 2-1, to Susquehanna University on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals earned the first score of the day with a goal from senior Andrea Jablonskyj at the 11:23 mark. Centered in the box Jablonskyj trapped a pass from sophomore Elizabeth Johnson and ripped it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Just 15 second later the River Hawks equalized with a shot from the right wing inside the left post. Susquehanna maintained the momentum and went one-on-one with Catholic keeper Christina Peyroux to score the game winner in the 25th minute.
Catholic continued its fight, outshooting Susquehanna 9-4 in the second half. Jablonskyj led the Cardinals with four of their 19 total shots. Freshman Halle Green and senior Alexa Povelaitis each took three while Johnson and classmate Sarah Brush took two apiece.
The Cardinals are set to host St. Mary's College of Maryland on Wednesday, September 27, at 4:00 p.m.
