Women's Soccer Battles for a Scoreless Draw

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Two halves and two overtime periods did not produce a winner Wednesday night as the Catholic University women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against Stevenson.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nina Fernandez made a career-high seven saves in the 0-0 contest.

Fernandez joined fellow Cardinals Grace Boras, Daniella Montesano, Reagan Sharkey, and Taylor DeMello in competing in all 110 minutes of action in the match.

As a team, the Cards took 18 shots to the Mustangs' 20. They threatened in the second overtime period, outshooting Stevenson 4-0.

Forward Elizabeth Johnson could not beat the opposing goalkeeper with any of her seven shots. Krista Boretti and Bridget Buckley also took two shots each.

The last six meetings between the two teams have been decided by one goal or less, including a pair of ties.

Catholic will host Salisbury this Sunday, September 16 at 2 p.m., subject to change due to any impacts from Hurricane Florence.
