The Cardinals (6-3-2) got on the board early in the 9th minute after Boretti found space on the left wing. She got in behind the defense, controlled the ball, and beat the goalkeeper with a goal into the right side of the net for her first goal of the season.
Catholic controlled posession throughout the first half, outshooting the Bobcats 19-3. Grace Boras' effort in the 18th minute hit the left goalpost to stay out. Frostburg (3-7) trailed 1-0 after forty-five minutes of play.
Junior Elizabeth Johnson led the Cards with five shots in the match. Her best attempt came in the 56th minute, as she turned a defender with her back to goal and her left-footed shot banged off the crossbar to stay out. Boras added another shot of the post after she was set up nicely by Meghan Corso in the 75th minute.
After setting the pace again in the second half, Catholic got its insurance goal in the 81st minute from the foot of Green. Corso passed from the right wing to find Green at the top of the box, and the Greensburg, Pa. native curled a shot over the keeper's head into the goal for her first career goal.
The Cardinals were relentless in their attempts at goal, outshooting their opponents 32-6 in the entire match. On the defensive end, defenders Mackenzie Earley, Reagan Sharkey, and Taylor DeMello all played 90 minutes to preserve the clean sheet.
Sophomore goalkeeper Nina Fernandez saved all six shots she faced in the win, as she moves to 6-3-2 on the year in net.
The Cardinals return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 6 for a 4 p.m., match at Landmark Conference foe Susquehanna.
