Aspinwall, Kaye highlight All-CAC teams

WASHINGTON - Sophomore Jenny Aspinwall (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) and freshman Laura Kaye (Annandale, Va./Bishop Ireton) were named to the 2002 Capital Athletic Conference All-CAC Teams.

The duo helped the women's soccer team turn in its best season in the school's history. With an overall record of 12-5, the squad won the most games in by a soccer team (men's and women's).

Aspinwall led the conference and team in points (35) and tied for the CAC lead with 15 goals. She scored five multi-goal games including two hat tricks. In five regular season CAC games, she recorded four goals and three assists.

Kaye had one of the most spectacular rookie campaigns in CUA history. She was second on the team in goals (14) and points (31). Five of her tallies were game-winning goals. She netted a hat trick against Gallaudet and scored the overtime winner at York to give the Cardinals their first win over the Spartans since 1997.

St. Mary's Brooke Barcheski was named the CAC Player of the Year while her coach, Mark Mermelstein was honored as CAC Coach of the Year. The CAC Rookie of the Year went to Ashley Iachini of York College.
