ST. MARY'S CITY, MD. -- Junior Stephanie Hare (Atlanta, Ga./.Norcross) scored two of the three first-half goals by Catholic to help lead the Cardinals past St. Mary's, 3-2, in a Capital Athletic Conference match.

Hare scored her team leading 5th and 6th goals with assists on both goals from junior Jenny Aspinwall (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) in the 23rd and 25th minute respectively.

Senior Lia DiGisi (Medford, N.J./Merion Mercy) notched her first goal of the season, an unassisted tally, in the 28th minute to give Catholic (5-2, 1-1 CAC) a 3-0 lead.

But the Seahawks (2-4, 0-1 CAC) cut the lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 30th minute.

St. Mary's made it 3-2 with a goal in the 60th minute before senior goalie Meghan Baroody (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) and the CUA defense clamped down for their first CAC win of the season. Baroody recorded 11 saves.

The Seahawks outshot 23-18, including 12 in the second half.

The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday as they play at Trinity College (D.C.) in the second game of the inaugural CUA DC Classic. Gallaudet will battle Columbia Union in the first game here at Catholic on Friday at 4 p.m.
