Rangers Best Cards
Despite controlling the game, Cardinals miss out on the win
MADISON, N.J. - Catholic University women's soccer (5-3) beat the Drew Rangers (3-5) in every offensive category but one Saturday afternoon in New Jersey. The Cards had more shots and more corner kicks but the Rangers were able to win with one important statistic.
The entire game, CUA shot at will against Drew. Keeper Ann Mularz had seven saves for the afternoon. However, in the 33rd minute a long ball down the sideline resulted in a cross from Cait Mueller for a goal by Emily Perks.
The Cardinals fought back but were unable to covert any shots making the final 1-0 at the end of 90 minutes.
The shot ratio was 17-6 and CUA took six corner kicks to Drew's three. Kim Stengle (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) played in the net for the Cards in the first half stopping two shots while Kate Milazzo (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) took over in the second also getting two saves.
The Cardinals will return to the friendly confines of DuFour Field on Wednesday for a league game against Goucher beginning at 4:30 p.m.
