Cardinals upended by Red Devils 7-2

WASHINGTON – CUA had its hands full with Dickinson on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Red Devils 7-2 at the CUA Tennis Courts.  Caitlin Porter won the Cardinals lone singles match at the third flight, while Ritamarie Holden and Isabel Tanco notched a win at second doubles.

Porter picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Madeline Altholtz at third singles, but that proved to be the Cardinals only victory in singles action. 

Elaina Sceusa fell at the first flight and Holden was upended at second singles.  Tanco, Amanda Pellegrino and Gretchen Coombs lost at fourth, fifth and sixth singles, respectively.

In doubles action, Holden and Tanco registered an 8-4 win at the second flight, but Sceusa and Porter were dropped at first doubles and Emma Needham and Montani lost at the third flight.

CUA closes out its fall home schedule on Monday afternoon when the Cardinals welcome York (Pa.) to town.  Action gets underway beginning at 4 p.m.
