Cardinals down Moravian for first time with 6-3 win

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – CUA earned its first-ever win against Moravian on Saturday, downing the Greyhounds 6-3. The Cardinals swept the doubles points, and Elaina Sceusa, Caitlin Porter and Emma Needham won singles points to help CUA improve to 9-2 overall and 1-0 in the Landmark Conference.

Sceusa won the 4th singles point with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Brittany Hodge, while Porter defeated Courtnie Lambert 6-1, 6-4 at the 5th flight.

Needham earned a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Olivia Sonnabend at 6th singles.

In doubles action, Liz Harvey and Marge Selinger teamed up for an 8-5 win at the 1st flight, and Ritamarie Holden and Porter earned an 8-6 win at the 2nd flight.

Sceusa and Isabel Tanco closed things out with an 8-3 win to earn the third doubles point.

Selinger fell to Melissa Follett 6-7, 6-3, 6-1 at 1st singles, while Harvey was upended 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 at the 2nd flight.

Holden dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision to Erica Venuti at the 3rd flight.

The Cardinals return home for their next match, hosting Susquehanna on Tuesday afternoon. Start time is set for 1:30 p.m.
