CUA improves to 3-0 on spring break with 8-1 win

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Cardinals swept all singles matches en route to an 8-1 win over St. Vincent on Tuesday, as CUA improved to 3-0 on its spring break trip. Marge Selinger, Ritamarie Holden, Liz Harvey, Caitlin Porter, Emma Needham and Isabel Tanco helped CUA sweep the singles points.

At the 1st singles flight, Selinger took down Jacquelyn Hauser 6-0, 6-1, while Holden followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win vs. Stephanie Rubin at the 2nd flight.

Harvey earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at the 3rd flight, and Porter finished off Jessica McKetta 6-1, 6-0 at 4th singles.

At 5th singles, Needham downed Chantal Mitchell 6-0, 6-4, and Tanco closed out singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Regina Woloshun at the 6th flight.

In doubles competition, Holden and Porter earned an 8-3 win at the 2nd flight, while Tanco and Needham won the 3rd flight point 8-4.

Selinger and Harvey were upended 8-2 at the 1st flight.

CUA is off on Wednesday, before closing out its spring break trip on Thursday against Westminster. Start time is slated for 11:30 a.m.
