Cardinal Women’s Tennis Sweeps Hood 9-0

WASHINGTON - It was great day for Catholic University women's tennis, as CUA overpowered Hood during every match, taking a 9-0 victory on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Frederick, Md.

The Cardinals No. 1 doubles team of Eliana Sceusa and Eliana Martinez defeated their opposition 8-5, No. 2 doubles duo Andie Ingram and Emma Needham conquered their hood opponents 8-1 and the No. 3 doubles team Maria Notarianni and Lindsey Rekstis closed out the doubles action with an 8-3 win.

CUA did not give up a single set in singles play beginning with a 6-0, 6-3 by No. 1 Sceusa.  Martinez secured a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 2 slot, Laura Torsiello defeated Hood's No. 3 singles foe 6-1, 6-1, Tanco clinced another win this season with a 6-2, 6-2 win as the No. 4 singles player, Ingram won 6-0, 6-1, and Rekstis closed out singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win.

The Cards continue weekend action on Sunday, Sept. 15 at St. Mary's (Md.) for a 12:00 p.m. match.
