Women’s Tennis Wins Landmark Opener Against Juniata

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's tennis team was victorious in its Landmark and home 2017 opener on Saturday at the Jone and Marty Dowd Family Tennis Courts as they downed Juniata, 6-3.

The Cardinals now improve to 8-3 overall on the season.

The All-Landmark duo of senior Laura Torsiello and junior Sarah MacLean combined for a strong performance at No. 1 doubles as they downed the Eagles top pairing, 8-6.

The Cards also picked up a doubles win in the third spot as senior Faith Tamuleviz and sophomore Lisa Genadry went over Juniata, 8-3.

Tamuleviz was also a two-time winner on the day as she won a hard-fought match at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 7-5.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Cardinals as they continue Landmark action on Sunday at 1 p.m., at Susquehanna.
