Women’s Tennis Edged by Drew and Scranton

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's tennis team was edged in a homestand weekend by Drew and Scranton, 5-4, 6-3, respectively.

The Cardinals were narrowly edged by the Rangers and could not overcome doubles losses versus the Royals. 

Against Drew the team of junior Jenna Gietl and sophomore Erin Cole earned the No. 2 doubles win, 8-4, prior to Gietl's No. 2 singles win, 6-4, 6-1.

Cole also won twice on Saturday for the Cards as she went over at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2.

Gietl picked up her third win of the weekend, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2 singles against Scranton.

Catholic got its second win of the afternoon against Drew as junior Sarah MacLean won No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-3, but the Cards would ultimately fall.

Catholic will get a week-and-half break for the Easter holiday but resumes Landmark action on Goucher on Wednesday, April 19 at Goucher.
