Hilton Head, S.C. – The Catholic University of America women's tennis was topped in a Spring Break match on Wednesday as Roanoke when over, 9-0.
Catholic had several strong performances but could not come away with a victory.
Senior No. 1 Jenna Gietl went toe-to-toe with Jessica Kennedy and took four points in each set, but could not go top the Maroons' top player.
Gietl and Kennedy once again squared off in the No. 1 doubles match as junior Erin Cole joined the fray. Catholic put forth its best effort of the day as the duo took five points from Kennedy and Avery Smith but were edged, 8-5.
Cole as competed as the team's No. 2 singles competitor and took seven points in two sets but was topped, 6-3, 6-4.
Catholic looks to get back on track on Thursday, March 8, against Lebanon Valley at 2 p.m.
