Catholic Soars Over Lebanon Valley, 7-2

Hilton Head, S.C. The Catholic University of America women's tennis team earned the first victory of its annual Spring Break trip as the Cardinals went over Lebanon Valley, 7-2.

Senior Jenna Gietl led the way as Catholic's No. 1 was a two-time winner on Thursday. She won in the top singles match, 6-1, 6-2, and then teamed with junior Erin Cole to win the No. 1 doubles match in strong fashion, 8-1.

Cole was also a two-time winner for the Cardinals a she was victorious in the No. 3 singles match, 7-6 (7-1), 6-3.

Senior Sarah MacLean earned a hard-fought, come-from-behind victory in the two spot, 6-7 (7-5), 6-3, 10-9 while junior Lisa Genadry and rookie Grace Connell teamed to take the No. 3 doubles match, 8-4, to help Catholic to a 5-1 mark in top-3 matches.

Catholic wraps up in Spring Break schedule on Friday against Thomas More at the Evian Tennis Center.
