Cards Edged in Landmark Championship at Scranton, 5-1

Scranton, Pa. — The Catholic University of America women's tennis team took on top-seeded Scranton in the Landmark Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon but were topped, 5-1.

Senior No. 2 singles competitor Sarah MacLean earned the win for the Cardinals as she went over, 6-1, 6-0.

MacLean also teamed with rookie Colleen McLaughlin in the No. 2 doubles match but were topped, 8-2.

Junior Erin Cole rebounded in the second set of the No. 3 singles bout, winning 6-5, to force a deciding set but Scranton was able to find its fifth win to end the championship match.

The Cardinals end the 2017-18 season with a 13-9 overall record after going 5-2 in Landmark play.
