WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America women's tennis team, which advanced to the Landmark Conference Championship this season, was recognized with five selections to all-conference teams, as announced by the league on Thursday.
Seniors Jenna Gietl and Sarah MacLean were tabbed to the All-Landmark First Team Singles, while junior Erin Cole earned a second-team accolade. Gietl and Cole also picked up a second-team doubles honor.
Gietl, who was a two-time second team member last season, went an impressive 5-1 in Landmark No. 1 singles matches to earn the honor. She and Cole also posted the third-best No. 1 doubles record in the league, going 4-2 overall. Gietl was also the Landmark Rookie of the Year in 2015.
MacLean, who picks up her second career all-conference nod, went undefeated in No. 2 singles action with a perfect 6-0 record. She was 13-4 overall in No. 2 bouts.
Cole, who earned second-team honors last year, joins Gietl as a two-time all-conference player. She posted the second-best No. 3 singles mark at 5-1 and showed strong in top doubles competition along with Gietl at 4-2.
