Two singles players and one doubles pair earn all-conference

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America women's tennis team will enter today's Landmark Conference semi-final match with a number of league awards already under its belt. Junior Rachel Tenuta (Fayetteville, N.C./Fayetteville) was selected the Landmark Conference Player of the Year, the league announced Tuesday.  Additionally, Tenuta and senior Emily McGlynn (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) were both named to the first team in singles and doubles play.

Tenuta was named first team all-conference and the Player of the Year after going undefeated in conference play at number one singles.  Tenuta is 5-0 at number one in the conference and 7-4 at the one position overall ranking her second in the Landmark.  After playing a challenging schedule to start the spring season, the junior is now rolling on a five-match win streak.

McGlynn was also named first team, this is the second honor for her after being named All-Capital Athletic Conference in 2006.  She currently has the most wins at number two singles in conference play with a 4-1 record.  Overall at number two, she is ranked fourth with a record of 6-4.

The doubles team of Tenuta and McGlynn were also voted to the first team after leading the pack in the number one spot.  The pair has the most wins overall in doubles play with a record of 7-4 and also lead in conference play with a 6-0 record.  The last time the pair lost was in early March.

The Landmark All-Conference team consists of a first and second team, with six singles players and three doubles pairings per team.

The Cardinals have earned the #3 seed in the Landmark Conference tournament with an overall record and 5-8 and a mark of 4-2 in league play.  CUA will face the second seeded University of Scranton Royals this afternoon in a semi-final match in Pennsylvania.
