Simon Harrington
Title: Assistant Coach

Simon Harrington joins the CUA Women’s Tennis program as a member of the 2014 coaching staff.

Harrington began his coaching career as a teaching pro in 1997 at the McLean Racquet and Health Club and has since held a number of coaching positions including Director of Tennis at Tuckahoe Recreation Club in McLean, Va., and the head coach at Trinity Women’s University.  Along with his duties at CUA, Harrington will continue as the head girl’s tennis coach at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.  In the spring of 2013, the Thomas Jefferson squad made it to the semi-finals of the state tournament.
Harrington’s coaching philosophy is simple; drills and perfecting shot skills is important, but nothing beats true competition experience.  With over fifteen years of coaching and teaching, Harrington has discovered that standard stroke techniques and strategies do not necessarily work every player and players need to try and adapt to situational occurrences.

As a player, Simon plays and captains many teams in the highly competitive Northern Virginia Tennis Leagues and most recently participated on a men's over forty team that competed for the USTA League National Championship in California.

Harrington currently resides in Fairfax, Va., with his wife and two daughters Sydney and Sally.  His full time position is working and building his family's Washington area real estate business.
