Women's Indoor Track & Field Predicted to Finish 3rd

Full Landmark Release

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University women's indoor track & field team was predicted to finish 3rd in the Landmark Conference this year according to the Preseason Poll released on Wednesday.

The prediction mirrors the Cardinals' finish from a year ago as CUA tied Juniata for 3rd place in the indoor championships with 76 points.

Catholic returns top throwers Mary Clark and Megan Ross who earned All-Landmark honors a year ago. The Cardinals will have to replace All-Landmark performers Laura Kinley and Keely Eckberg, but a number of the cross country runners will transition over to track. Courtney Doran returns to the team after studying abroad last year and is expected to make an impact in the high hurdles and high jump.

CUA Head Coach Joe Fisher welcomes a number of newcomers ready to compete. The group of freshman includes Catherine Kitz, Susana Molina, and Erin Williams who ran on the cross country team this fall. Mary Paige Nesfeder is another dual-sport athlete new this season, who wrapped up a strong rookie campaign on the CUA volleyball squad.

The Cardinals open up the 2013-14 season this Saturday, Dec. 7 when they travel to Collegeville, Pa., for the Bow-Tie Classic at Ursinus College.
