WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America women's track and field team came out on top of the Bison Invitational on Saturday with team score of 142. Hood College was a close second with 123 points followed by Gallaudet (99), Hagerstown Community College (79) and Goucher (65).
The Cardinals had four individual first place finishes and one first place relay to help support their overall team win.
On the track CUA's Danielle Caruccio finished her 400 meter race in 1:04.54 for the top spot while Erin Schlegel posted 42:41.29 for first place in the 10 kilometer race. Bridget Krumholz finished as the runner up in 800 meter race finishing in 4:24.68.
The Cardinals 4x400 meter relay made up of Becky Chominski, Eileen McAlonan, Krumholz, Carruccio, finished in 4:24.68, a solid 13.3 seconds faster that the second place finishers.
Mary Clark earned two gold medals in the field throwing 41.66 meters in the hammer throw and 32.59 meters in the discus throw. Clark also notched a second place finish in the shot put after throwing 10.51 meters while Stephanie Taylor posted a second place finish in the high jump (1.55 meters)
Catholic University women's track and field will head to Messiah College on Friday, April 10 for the two day Messiah Invitational.
