Catholic Opens 2016 Outdoor Season at Early Bird Invite

Elizabethtown, Pa. – The Catholic University of America women's track & field team began its 2016 outdoor season on Saturday, competing at Landmark foe Elizabethtown's Early Bird Invite.

CUA also got a leading performance from senior jumper Stephanie Taylor who won the high jump with a mark of 1.47 meters. She also finished third in the triple jump at 9.55 meters.

Sophomore Kiera Lyons had a strong day for the Cardinals, starting with a fourth-place finish in the mile at 5:25.87. She followed up the performance with a time of 2:28 flat in the 800; good for seventh overall.

Rookie Samantha Kozlowski showed impressive distance in the hammer throw, taking third with a toss of 32.87 meters. Fellow thrower Andrea Galeano took sixth overall in the shot put with a distance of 10.03 meters.

The Cardinals return to action next Saturday at the Goucher Classic.
