Women’s Track & Field Posts Strong Performance at Frostburg Invite

Frostburg, Md. – The Catholic University of America women's track & field team put forth a strong performance at the Frostburg State Bobcat Invitational, winning several events to go along with numerous top-three finishes.

Sophomore Kiera Lyons got things started with a win in the 1500-meter run, crossing the finish line with a time of 5:05.38. Lyons also finished second in the 800 at 2:28.48. Sophomore Becky Chominski was just behind her at 2:31.76, taking third.

Junior Danielle Caruccio also picked up a win in the 400-meter dash with a time of 60.91. Caruccio also added a fourth-place finish in 200 dash, crossing in 27.64.

The Cardinals enjoyed strong performances by their throwers as junior Samantha Kozlowski won the hammer throw with a toss of 34.20 meters. Rookie Andrea Galeano came in third at 32.18 meters.

Galeano also went on to win the shot put, going over 10 meters on her toss, finishing with a mark of 10.18 meters.

Senior Stephanie Taylor added a top-two finish, taking the silver in the high jump, clearing 1.42 meters.

The Cards return to action this weekend, competing on Friday and Saturday at the Messiah Invitational.
