Lyons Leads the Way for Women’s Track at Morgan State

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's track & field team took on a majority field of Division I programs at Morgan State's annual Legacy Meet, but still posted some strong performers, finishing ahead of such programs as Temple, Georgetown, George Washington, American and Loyola. 

Sophomore standout Kiera Lyons was impressive in her performances, finishing 10th overall in the 1500, shaving six seconds off her seeded time, crossing the finish line at 4:54.48.

Lyons followed it up by placing fifth in the 5000 with a time of 18:37.06. Senior Cristina Butrico also added a top-20 finish in the event, taking 16th at 21:20.74.

Junior Danielle Caruccio finished 21st overall in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 59.10.

Up next, the Cardinals return to D.C. on Saturday when they compete at the Gallaudet Invitational.
