WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's track & field team defeated five other schools on Saturday to win Gallaudet's Bison Invitational. The Cardinals also downed Hood, Frostburg State, The Pacers Running Club and Stevenson.
Lyons also went on to win the 3000, crossing the finish line in 10:45.74, nearly 25 seconds faster than her seeded time.
Senior Stephanie Taylor won the women's high jump, clearing 1.52 meters and went on to place fourth in the long jump at 4.55 meters.
Rookie thrower Andrea Galeano took third in the shot put at 9.87 meters and added another bronze with a toss of 29.06 meters in the discus. Galeano also took second in the hammer, just behind teammate Brenna Coppola who won the event with a throw of 38.25 meters.
This was the final tune-up for the Cardinals before the 2016 Landmark Conference Championships, hosted by Juniata next weekend, May 7-8.
