WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America women's track & field team has swept the Landmark Conference weekly awards thanks to strong performances at last week's Lebanon Valley Invitational. Senior Danielle Caruccio and sophomore Andrea Galeano were selected as the Track and Field Athletes of Week, respectively.
Galeano had a record-breaking performance at the Dutchwomen Invitational as she broke both the Catholic University and Landmark Conference record in the weight throw, booming a toss of 15.48 meters to set the new high mark for the league and program. She also added a seventh-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 8.36 meters
Caruccio helped lead the way for the Cardinals in their first meet of 2017 as she earned three top-3 finishes, including a victory in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.94. She also added an individual bronze in the 55-meter as she crossed the finish line in 7.94 seconds. Caruccio wrapped up her performance at Lebanon Valley College's Dutchwomen Invitational with a second-place performance in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:32.72.
Next up, the Cardinals will compete on Friday at the Widener Invitational.
