WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's track & field team fourth overall with 54 points at the Landmark Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon at Susquehanna while sophomore Andrea Galeano was selected as the league's Field Athlete of the Year.
Galeano smashed the Landmark and Catholic record in the weight throw, which she set earlier this season. She boomed a throw of 17.98 meters which was two meters longer than her previous mark. She now ranks seventh in the country after that throw.
She also finished third in the shot put with a throw of 10.68 meters.
Senior Danielle Caruccio also had an impressive meet and joined Galeano as a champion. She was the only runner to crack the minute barrier in the 400-meter dash and crossed the finish line in 59.96 for the victory. She also earned a bronze in the 200 with a time of 26.72.
McAlonan made her second trip to the podium by taking the silver with a long jump of 4.72 meters.
Sophomore Mia Del Borrello added yet another bronze to the total for the Cards as she placed third in the pole vault by clearing 3.04 meters.
