WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's track & field competed at the two-day Mary Washington Battleground Relays this past Friday and Saturday and put forth several strong performances including a win in the steeple chase.
Junior Kiera Lyons helped lead the way as the gold went her way in the 3,000-meter steeple chase with a time of 12.08.48. She also earned a silver in the 1,500 at 5:07.87. She was just .9 seconds behind the first-place finisher.
Senior Danielle Caruccio had one of Catholic's top times as she was fifth in the 400-meter dah at 59.99 as on of five competitors to crack one-minute. She also put forth a top-10 performance as she finished eighth overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.97.
Additionally, freshman Gabby Tomasura was fourth in the javelin at 29.54 meters.
Next up, the Cards will compete at the Messiah Invitational on Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m.
