Collegeville, Pa. – The Catholic University of America women's track & field team began the 2018 portion of its indoor schedule on Saturday afternoon as they competed at Ursinus' Collegeville Classic. The Cardinals finished 11th overall and bested eight other programs.
Senior Kiera Lyons led the way for Catholic as she was victorious in the 3,000 by over 10 seconds as she finished in 10:54.37. She also placed fourth in the mile with a time of 5:25.40.
After setting the school record in her first meet, rookie Abby Grabowski garnered a top-10 finish and nearly reached her own record by 0.02 seconds with a time of 9.84 in the 60-meter hurdles which placed her sixth overall.
Freshman Victoria Carlini posted a top-10 performance in the 800-meter dash as she crossed the finish line with a time of 2:35.69, good for the seventh overall.
Next up, the Cardinals will compete at the Widener Field Meet next Friday and the George Mason Patriot Games on Saturday.
