Baltimore, Md. — The Catholic University of America women's track & field team continued its outdoor season at the Johns Hopkins Invitational on Saturday and got several strong performances including a new school record in the steeplechase by senior Kiera Lyons. The Cardinals were eighth among 15 competing schools.
Lyons finished the 3,000-meter race in a program-best 11:27.81 and took home the bronze medal for her efforts.
Junior thrower Andrea Galeano earned a silver as she was second in the hammer with a toss of 42.71 meters. She also placed 12th in the shot put (9.77) and 14th in the discus (29.92).
Junior Rebecca Johnson finished 10th overall in the discus and her throw went 31.07 meters.
Senior Eileen McAlonan was inside the top-15 as she cleared 4.53 meters in the long jump.
Sophomore Emily Tighe also ran the steeplechase and finished 10th in 13:03.29.
Catholic is back in action tomorrow as the Cardinals compete at the Mary Washington Relays.
