Sophomore Abby Grabowski had a day for herself as she broke two school records and ran a personal best in the 200m. Grobowski, broke her own school record in the 60m hurdles by 0.32 of a second with a time of 09.45 to place fourth. She then went to break the school record in the 60m dash that was set by junior Grace Boras just one heat earlier. Boras first broke her own record with a time of 8.39, before Grobowski ran in the following heat and recorded a time of 08.32. To wrap up the day for Grobowski, she ran a personal best in the 200m with a time of 27.82.
Catholic added one more impressive debut in the 60m dash when sophomore Madeline Baker ran a personal best with a time of 08.54. Senior Kiera Lyons was the final Cardinal to finish in the top ten for the day with a time fo 11:05.90 in the 3000m run to place her in seventh.
"This was a monumental start to the women's season," said Director Steve Rahn. "Typically, these first meets in December are used to get out the first meet nerves and set a baseline of where everyone is with their training and where they need more work. To start a season with 23 personal records and 3 performances which broke school records shows the women are ready for success on a bigger stage. Right now, we'll continue to focus on training and executing race plans and event mechanics in practice. Overall, the coaching staff is very pleased with the team's performance today."
Catholic will return to action on Saturday, December 8 at the Holiday Meet hosted by Haverford College.
